02.06.2010. The 4th Annual Renewable Energy Conference organized by Dnevnik daily held on 31st of May and 1st of June at Sheraton hotel, Sofia.
The event covered the topics for investment in wind farms, photovoltaic systems and hydroelectric power installations and focused on the Renewable energy strategy and legislation in Bulgaria.
The conference aims to be a platform for dialogue and ideas exchange between the Government and the business regarding the strategy for renewable energy development and investment opportunities.

16.04.2010. Environmental Networking – Young Europeans in Dialogue, 2009-2012 is an all-european project initiated by Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (www.dbu.de), 11 national and regional newspapers from Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania and Germany and 40 secondary schools from this countries. The German head of state Horst Köhler has became patron of the project.
The schools taking part enter into bilateral European and ecological partnerships. One of these partnerships is founded between Galabov secondary school Nr. 91 in Sofia and Domgymnasium in Verden (close to Bremen). The German school class visits its partner class in Sofia from 14.-21.4.2010.
On April 16th the two classes (28 pupils, 16 years old + 4 teachers) carried out a journalistic investigation about - "Using renewable energies in Bulgaria:
Paunovo photovoltaic plant", why and how it was developed, its ecological aspects / benefits and other actvities and projects of SunSERVICE in the field of renewable energies. The results of the pupils’ journalistic investigation are going to be published on an entire page in "Trud"and on an entire page in the German Sunday paper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung as well. 20.01.2010 Two Chinese companies, Polar Photovoltaics and Wiscom will invest seven million U. S. dollars to build a 2 MW Photovoltaic plant near Ihtiman, 40 km south from Bulgarian capital Sofia.
Design and construction of the photovoltaic park is entrusted to the company SunSERVICE Ltd., which together with Optienergy AD were working on the project implementation so far.
Rumen Christov from SunSERVICE:
"For the project near Ihtiman it was real competition between many investors. The team Polar-Wiscom Ltd impressed us with their professional and fast business approach and with their promising technology based on a-Si thin film. We will use all our knowledge to realize the project in shortest time according highest European standards.
"It is our first investment in a European Union country and we carefully selected the best place for it," Jim Su, Chief Marketing Officer at Polar said.
"Our region has high unemployment rate, so investors here are exempt from profit tax," said Margarita Petkova, Mayor of Ihtiman.
"We decided to invest in Bulgaria, in Ihtiman municipality in order to prove our ability to deliver the main product, the PV- generator based on unique Chinese technology together with a proper financing scheme, so we can have an excellent operating PV- power plant under challenging conditions. We would like to get experience working with Bulgarian partners and later to increase the number of projects in the area," Xu Bing from Polar-Wiscom told reporters.
In conclusion, the manager of the company's investor "Polar-Wiscom" Ltd. - Dr. Evguenii Yankov - announced that photovoltaic park is only a pilot project to be substantially larger investment in photovoltaic from China.

Yesterday in Novotel Plovdiv a National Conference V "Switching to renewable energy sources (RES) for heating, electricity and biofuels" was held, organized by the Association of Bulgarian Energy Agencies (ABEA). The conference honored the companies initiated the winning projects for renewable energy power plants and installations - the first white swallows in Bulgaria. Te capacity of the park is going to be 1 MW. Our partner in the project is Advance Equity Holding and the supervisor is IBC Solar AG. The modules used in the park are thin-film. We expect to finish the Paunovo project till the end of August 2008.
